You may have seen news in the past few days of the earthquake in West Java. First early reports are of 162 deaths, 326 injured, 2,345 homes and other buildings damaged and 13,784 people evacuated. As you will realise, with much building product in Indonesia product made of asbestos and this widespread damage will have released large amounts of asbestos particles that will, in turn, contribute to long term harm to health and premature fatalities among the local population, including rescue and aid workers.
