UnionsWA , the Save Our Services and Use Your Power groups have, at the one-year mark out from the 11 March 2017 WA state election, announced details of a range of activities in opposition to privatisation of public services and public assets.

UnionsWA and unions representing hospital, school, other service and professional employees have today commented on the announced pay freeze by WA Treasurer, Mike Nahan.

The ACTU and UnionsWA have commented on the release today by the ABS of unemployment statistics to warn that not enough is being done to transition the WA economy beyond the resources sector.

UnionsWA has today commented on the release by the Barnett Government of its’ Mid-Year Financial Projections Statement.

UnionsWA has today supported academic and general staff at the University of Western Australia in condemning the sacking of 300 staff and appalling manner in which that decision was communicated to the community.

UnionsWA  has commented on the release yesterday by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) of a survey of employers that has tracked declining apprentice and trainee numbers while job qualification requirements rise.

UnionsWA has today released an analysis data of youth unemployment following the issuing yesterday of detailed data by the ABS.  Youth unemployment has been found to be high and rising across Perth, particularly in the southern suburbs.

On behalf of our members and communities we represent, we, the undersigned organisations, are gravely concerned by the Criminal Code Amendment (Prevention of Lawful Activity) Bill 2015 and the implications it has for Western Australia’s democracy and the rights of citizens to engage in peaceful protest.
