Western Australia’s May Day is organised by UnionsWA, their focus for the Festival is to create a free fun day out on the green, and to celebrate all that we enjoy about spending time with friends and families.

At midday, the event starts with a march and rally through the streets of Fremantle. There are about 2000 marchers in total. Please refer to the downloadable map below, to check the start and finish locations, and for the route also. The march usually takes an hour to complete.

After the march, there will be speakers on the main stage to address the crowd, which will then be followed by a succession of local bands.

The festival starts at 1.00pm, with most of the day being sponsored, festival goers can expect free family fun to help them get the most out of the day. Free goodies include - a sausage sizzle, ice-creams, show rides, coffee, face painting, petting zoo and live local bands to get your feet stomping throughout the afternoon.
