The Bank Who Lives Here?
When Bankwest was privatised in 1995, the Bank of Western Australia Act 1995 was created to guarantee certain protections for the institution. When the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) purchased the bank, extra provisions were included in an amended bill to protect Bankwest workers, jobs and the institution itself.
In 2017, these important provisions that protect jobs and branches will expire.
Despite contacting Bankwest and CBA management, the Finance Sector Union (FSU) has been unable to obtain guarantees that these provisions, listed in the Bank of Western Australia Amendment Bill 2012, will continue beyond 2017.
This is where we need your help.
