Asbestos Campaigning in Indonesia - What Research Says

Heidi Vivian is a PhD candidate and lecturer in Employment Relations at the University of Western Australia. Her research covers the representation of precarious workers in the developing state context. In this address she will summarise her research on the role of the anti-asbestos group, Indonesia LION within the broader context of labour governance in Indonesia. Her research seeks to understand the strategies LION employs in order to bring awareness, legitimacy and potential reform to the issue of work health and safety generally and asbestos specifically within the Indonesian Construction Industry. This promises to be a fascinating presentation on research about the impact of Indonesia LION in their work to save lives from asbestos exposure. Prior to her career in academia, Heidi spent 12 years as a project management consultant in the construction industry, working predominantly on major infrastructure projects in both London and Perth. Dr Anna Suraya and Surya Ferdian from Indonesia LION will join us by Zoom and provide their responses to the presentation after which there will be the opportunity for Q & A. Light refreshments will be provided. This event is free but RSVPs are asked for by completing your details below. If you wish to attend via Zoom, a link for that will be sent after your RSVP.
