ACTU_Indigenous.png

Australian Unions are working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members and communities to win social and economic justice.

As a key step towards this, the ACTU, UnionsWA and our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Committee believe that providing leadership training to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members will encourage them step up to leadership roles within their workplaces, their unions and within their communities.

Goals:

The goals of the program are:

  • To increase the engagement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander activists in the union movement;
  • To empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders;
  • To develop potential as future union/union-community organisers;
  • To increase strategic engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers and communities.

The program will include classroom training and a one day placement with the participants unions.

There is no cost for this training course; however unions will be responsible for organising any travel/accommodation for regional participants.

Speak to your union about nominating for the Program. Once approved by your union, complete the registration form and we will send you further details about the training and timetable.
