Union Aid Abroad – APHEDA Philippines Typhoon Haiyan Appeal - Please give generously
Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines in the early hours of Friday 8 November 2013. At least 10,000 people died in the province of Leyte. As with most catastrophes, it is the poorest who are hit the hardest. Aid is still needed urgently.
The generosity of Union Aid Abroad-APHEDA supporters has so far helped enable the medical treatment of almost 5,000 survivors – however with more than 2,000 people listed as missing it remains a long road to recovery for the people of the Philippines.
APHEDA’s Philippines partner the Community Medicine Development Foundation (COMMED) is arranging volunteer doctors, nurses and community health workers from the Philippines to conduct medical and relief missions to affected communities in Eastern Samar province.
