News News Top money to tell workers they're ok
THE head of the Federal Government's new Workplace Authority, Barbara Bennett, is on a salary package worth $275,000 a year.

Ms Bennett, who appears in Government television advertisements reassuring employees that their rights will be protected, has been placed in the top remuneration band under the "principal executive office" pay structure.

Remuneration for officials in this band, which covers heads of statutory authorities, ranges from $275,000 to $492,510.

A spokeswoman for the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations said Ms Bennett's remuneration had been set at the lowest level under the relevant pay band. Other senior executives classified in this band include the managing directors of the ABC and SBS, the heads of the CSIRO and the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation and the chief executives of Centrelink and Austrade.
